In 1994 he obtained his Fellowship of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

After a year in general practice he commenced his specialist orthodontic training at Bristol Dental Hospital and, after three years, qualified with an M.Orth from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and, a MSc from the University of Bristol(1999).

Mr. Hutchinson teaches lingual orthodontics, has had several articles published, and is a committee member of the British Lingual Orthodontic Society, lectures for Warwick University and has presented lectures aborad and in this country.

Ian is also an Associate Fellow in the Institute of Postgraduate Education at Warwick University Medical School and is frequently invited to give lectures and presentations around the world.

Having his own family has helped give Richard an understanding that children need encouragement to be responsible for themselves, and benefit from a relaxed and reassuring atmosphere.

Richard offers a wide choice of orthodontic appliances, and advises patients primarily according to the result they are looking for, while also taking into account their requirements with regards to their appearance during treatment.
